Domestic roaster show interest in new crop

Domestic roasters have shown interest in the new crop (coffee season 2005-06) as prices eased by Rs 100 to Rs 150 at the Indian Coffee Trade Association (ICTA) auction held on Thursday.
 
According to the auctioneer Carritt Moran and Company, old coffee crop witnessed selective domestic interest with prices barely around last week levels.
 
At today's auction of the 271 tonne offered for sale (last week 182 tonne) 138 tonne was sold (last week 42 tonne). Arabica comprised of 189 tonne (last week 109 tonne), Robusta 82 tonne (last week 73 tonne).
 
Following are the prices quoted for grades in Rs/50kg. Arabica varieties:
 
Arabica Parchment PB Rs 5420 (quantity sold 8924 kg), Arabica Parchment AA Rs 5311 (626 kg), Arabica Parchment A (Tamil Nadu stored -2005/06) Rs 5501 (22513 kg), Arabica Parchment B Rs 5200 (4125 kg), Arabica Parchment C Rs 5150 (446 kg), Arabica Parchment BBB Rs 4228 (1064 kg), Arabica Cherry AA Rs 4255 (105kg), Arabica Cherry C Rs 3500 (750 kg), Arabica Cherry BBB Rs 2750 (1000 kg),
 
Robusta Parchment BBB Rs 2750 (1000 kg), Robusta Cherry PB Rs 2953 (10,000 kg), Robusta Cherry AA Rs 3043 (8860 kg), Robusta Cherry AB Rs 3000 (900 kg), and Robusta Cherry BBB Rs 2650 (7500 kg).
