Domestic roasters offer support at ICTA auction

Domestic roasters offered support on the small quantity of quality coffee offerings at the Indian Coffee Trade Association (ICTA) auction on Thursday.

According to the auctioneers, Carritt Moran and Company, coffee prices were barely around last week's levels. Robusta secondary grades attracted good demand.

The auction saw 546 tonnes on offer for sale (last week 574 tonnes), of which only 75 tonnes were sold. Arabica comprised 237 tonnes, Robusta 309 tonnes.

Following are the prices quoted for grades in Rs/50kg. Arabica varieties: Arabica plantation PB Rs 4,946 (6,477 kg), Arabica plantation MNEB Rs 5,199 (4,720 kg), Arabica plantation A Rs 5,000 (1,000 kg), Arabica plantation B Rs 4,650 (1,200 kg), Arabica plantation C Rs 4,250 (975 kg), Arabica plantation BBB Rs 3,050 (312 kg), Arabica cherry PB Rs 3,700 (1,030 kg), Arabica cherry AA Rs 4,519 (3,800 kg) and Arabica cherry BBB 2,550 (200 kg).

Robusta varieties: Robusta parchment PB Rs 3,275 (360 kg), Robusta parchment AA Rs 3,600 (360 kg), Robusta parchment AB Rs 3,525 (750 kg), Robusta parchment C Rs 2,850 (360 kg), Robusta parchment BBB Rs 2,518 (14,257 kg), Robusta cherry PB Rs 2,750 (750 kg), Robusta cherry AA Rs 3,023 (2,070 kg), Robusta cherry AB Rs 3,000 (4,442 kg), Robusta cherry BBB Rs 2,600 (10,000 kg).
