US stocks climbed more than 2% on Tuesday as the confidence data showed the biggest monthly leap in six years and it lifted hopes of an economic rebound. A brokerage upgrade of Apple Inc also helped the Nasdaq to gain.
The Dow Jones industrial average rose 196 points( 2%) to finish at 8,473. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 23 points, (3%) at 910. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 58 points (3%) at 1,750.
The Indian ADRs ended on a positive note. Patni Computers zoomed over 9% to $10.18.
HDFC gained 4% at $95.46. and Sterlite added over 3% at $11.30.
Infosys advanced 2.5% at $32.41. MTNL, Dr Reddy's and Wipro were up 2% each at $3.92, $13.73 and $11.17, respectively.
Genpact was flat at $10.47.
Tata Communications tumbled over 11.5% to $22.24. Tata Motors slipped 1.5% to $ 9.46.
Satyam and ICICI Bank were down 1% each at $2.14 and $29.20, respectively.
