The Dow Jones industrial average tumbled 206 points to 12,814. The Nasdaq shed 45 points at 2,438.
Indian ADRs, too, ended on a weak note. Satyam plunged over 6% to $25.54. Infosys tumbled over 5.5% to $43.24. Wipro and HDFC Bank slumped 5.8% each at $12.87 and $110, respectively.
MTNL was down 5.7% at $5.12. Sterlite and Tata Communications dropped over 4% to $20.54 and $23.84.
Tata Motors, ICICI Bank and Dr Reddy's were down 2-3% each.
