Dow drops 87 pts, VSNL soars 8%

Downtrend in tech stocks coupled with rising oil prices and nervousness ahead of Friday's employment report dragged the US markets on Thursday. While the Dow Jones tumbled 87 points to 10,610, the Nasdaq shed 25 points to close at 2,191.

Barring VSNL, Indian floats ended at lower levels. Infosys, Satyam, Wipro, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Dr. Reddy's, Tata Motors and MTNL were down in a range of 1-3%. VSNL, however, flared up nearly 8% to $19.92.
