Dow rallies 290pts on Fannie, Freddie bailout; Indian ADRs gain

The Wall Street ended on a positive note yesterday following the US government plan to buyout the two companies badly hit by subprime crises - Fannie & Freddie. The Dow Jones industrial average surged 290 points to 11,511. The Nasdaq was up 14 points at 2,270.

Indian ADRs, too, ended with smart gains. Tata Communications zoomed nearly 6% to $20. HDFC Bank rallied 4% to $94.10. Sterlite and Wipro soared around 3% each to $13.37 and $11.64, respectively. ICICI Bank, Tata Motors and Dr.Reddy's were the other prominent gainers. Patni Computers, however, slipped over 1% to $10.18.
