Dow up 78pts, HDFC Bank zooms 7%

Wall Street indices rallied on Friday as investors expect corporates to report good numbers starting next week. The markets will also remember Black Monday (on October 19) next week - the carnage witnessed on Wall Street two decades ago when the Dow dropped 23% in a single session.

While the Dow was up 78 points at 14,093, the Nasdaq Composite added 33 points to close at 2,806.

Indian ADRs also largely finished with gains on Friday. HDFC Bank, which reported a better-than-expected 40% rise in Q2 net profit, zoomed nearly 7% to $115.94. WNS, Genpact, ICICI Bank and Wipro also closed with gains.
