Drifting lower again, Sensex down 416pts

The Sensex has crumbled back to lower levels and is now down 416 points at 9341.

The BSE Mid-cap and Small-cap indices are down nearly 8% each at 3977 and 4843, respectively.

HDFC Bank has slumped almost 11% to Rs 642. Reliance Energy has tumbled nearly 9% to Rs 368.

HLL has dropped nearly 7% to Rs 205, and Tata Power has declined 6.5% to Rs 432.

Reliance, Bharti Airtel and Bajaj Auto are down nearly 6% each at Rs 839, Rs 333 and Rs 2,385, respectively.

Tata Steel has slipped 5.7% to Rs 435. Dr.Reddy's and HDFC are down over 5% each at Rs 1,200 and Rs 1,104, respectively.

Out of a total of 2,360 stocks traded so far, 2,176 have declined, 155 have advanced and 29 are unchanged.
