Dull week

The local base metals market remained within the range throughout the week with all metals closing slightly lower, tracking the performance on the London Metal Exchange (LME) on the back of an improved dollar.
 
Locally, the price of nickel cathodes fell to close at Rs 815.00 per kilogram, from Rs 817.00 on Monday. Copper wire bars closed at Rs 208.00 compared with a close of Rs 210.00 the last week. Copper heavy scraps closed at Rs 175.00 from Rs 176.00 last week.
 
Copper utensil closed down by Re 1 at Rs 156.00 from Rs 157 last week and brass utensil scraps displayed a similar trend and closed lower at Rs 121 from Rs 122.00 last week.
 
Brass sheet cutting also fell by Re 1 from last Monday's close of Rs 130 at Rs 129.00 this week. It remained steady all through the week. Aluminium utensil scraps closed at Rs 85 from Rs 86.00.
 
Aluminium ingot also closed a tad lower at Rs 103.00 from last Monday's close of Rs 104.00. Lead ingots remained unchanged to close at Rs 52.00. Zinc was down by 50 paise at Rs 80.00.
 
Tin slabs closed fell by Rs 10 to close at Rs 465 this week from last week's close of Rs 475.00. Copper light scraps traded at Rs 170 from last week's rate of Rs 170.50 and copper sheet cutting closed at Rs 164.00, down by Re 1 from last week.
