Edible, non-edible oils decline on reduced offtake

Edible oil prices fell up to Rs 200 per quintal on the wholesale oils and oilseeds market today on reduced offtake at existing higher levels.

A few oils in the non-edible section, also showed some weakness on sluggish demand from consuming industries. Traders said reduced offtake by stockists due to fall in demand at existing higher levels pulled down edible oil prices.

They said reduced industrial offtake helped non-edible oil prices to decline.

In the national capital, groundnut mill delivery (Gujarat) suffered the most by losing Rs 200 to Rs 7,400 per quintal, while groundnut solvent refined lost Rs 25 to Rs 1,425-1,435 per tin.

Mustard expeller oil (Dadri) followed suit and moved down by Rs 200 to Rs 5,970 per quintal. Mustard pakki and kachi ghani oils traded lower by Rs 10 each to Rs 770-925 and Rs 925-1,025 per tin.

Soyabean refined mill delivery (Indore) and soyabean degum (Kandla) declined by Rs 30 each to Rs 6,300 and Rs 6,100, while crude palm oil (ex-kandla) and palmolein (rbd) oils shed Rs 70 and Rs 100 to Rs 5,550 and Rs 6,150 per quintal.

In line with a general firming trend, cottonseed mill delivery (Haryana) declined by Rs 70 to Rs 5650 per quintal.

In the non-edible section, linseed and neem oils eased by Rs 50 each to Rs 4550 and Rs 4050-4150 per quintal on reduced industrial demand.
