Edible oil prices firmed up to Rs 200 per quintal in the wholesale oils and oilseeds market today on brisk buying by vanaspati millers for the marriage season and reports of a rising trend in global markets.
The trading sentiment in edible oils remained firm after palm oil climbed in global markets, tracking gains in soybeans after a US government report showed that muddy fields delayed sowing of the oilseed that's crushed to produce a substitute cooking oil.
Meanwhile, palm oil for September delivery advanced by 1% to $1,061 per metric tonne on the Malaysia Derivatives Exchange.
In the national capital, soyabean refined mill delivery (Indore) and soyabean degum (Kandla) oils rose further by Rs 50 each to Rs 6,300 and Rs 5,900, respectively, while crude palm oil (ex-Kandla) was trading higher by the same margin at Rs 5,250 per quintal.
