Buoyed by the rising demand from millers and retailers on account of festive season, edible oil prices firmed up to Rs 350 per quintal in the oils and oilseeds market today.
Among non-edible oils, linseed also strengthened on an increased offtake by paint industries. Traders said sentiment bolstered on the back of an increased buying by vanaspati millers to meet the ongoing festive and marriage season demand.
Besides, firming global trend also influenced the edible oil prices here, they said.
In the national capital, groundnut mill delivery oil (Gujarat) shot up by Rs 300 to Rs 8,600 per quintal, while groundnut solvent refined traded higher by Rs 50 to Rs 1,450- 1,460 per tin.
Mustard expeller oil (Dadri) rose by Rs 80 to Rs 5,400 per quintal. Mustard pakki and kachi ghani oils edged up by Rs 10 each to Rs 730-885 and Rs 885-985 per tin of 15 litres.
Sesame and cottonseed mill delivery (Haryana) moved up by Rs 100 and Rs 70 to Rs 5,950 and Rs 4,570 per quintal.
In line with a general firming trend, soyabean refined mill delivery (Indore) and soyabean degum (Delhi) oils surged by Rs 350 and Rs 240 to Rs 5,200 and Rs 4,850, while crude palm oil (ex-kandla) and palmolein (rbd) jumped up by Rs 200 and Rs 150 to Rs 4,280 and Rs 5,100 per quintal.
Among non-edible, linseed oil remained in paint industries demand and added another Rs 50 to Rs 4,200 per quintal.
