Fertiliser stocks slip on likely outstanding subsidy burden

Fertiliser shares have slipped this morning on news that the subsidy payment is likely to remain outstanding this fiscal year.

Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilisers is down 2.7% at Rs 36. National Fertiliser has slumped 3.7%. Gujarat State Fertilisers is down 0.8% at Rs 59.10. Zuari Agro is down 2.5% while Coromandel International, Chambal Fertilisers has slipped marginally.

Fertiliser subsidy payment worth Rs 31,580 crore is likely to remain outstanding to the nutrient manufacturers this fiscal, Parliament was informed on Thursday.

The minister also informed the house that 78.64 lakh tonnes of urea has been imported till February in this fiscal, against 78.34 lakh tonnes in the entire previous year. Urea is being imported on government accounts while other fertilisers are imported under Open General Licence (OGL).
