FIIs' 3-day selloff at Rs 1338 cr

With the foreign institutional investors (FIIs) turning net sellers in futures and options, the Sensex on Monday registered its largest single-day fall since June 17 this year.
 
The FIIs net sold securities worth Rs 1,338 crore in the last three trading days "" Rs 627 crore in index futures and Rs 711 crore in stocks futures.
 
The BSE Metal index was the largest loser among the sectoral indices, declined by 436 points (5.05 per cent) to 8,190.26 on Monday.
 
Sensex fell by 368 points (3.09 per cent) to 11,550.69 against Friday's close of 11,918.65, while Mid-cap and Small-cap indices declined by 3.2 per cent each. The BSE Mid-cap index fell by 161.93 points to 4,879.42 and Small-cap index 189.76 to 5,841.47.
 
The FMCG index was the second largest sectoral loser, falling by 3.62 per cent to 1962.06. It was followed by the healthcare index 3.5 per cent to 3507.10, capital goods index 3.3 per cent to 7,813.42 and automobiles index 3.2 per cent to 5039.33.
 
The BSE, Oil and Gas, IT, Consumer durables and Bankex were the least impacted, falling between 2 per cent and 3 per cent each, compared with the Sensex.
 
As many as 298 stocks were frozen at the down limit of the circuit filter ""117 scrips from B2 group, 57 from B1, 52 from S, 39 from T, 29 from Z and four from TS group.
 
Of these stocks, 231 stocks declined more than four per cent each, while nine stocks include LML, Khyati Multimedia, Balurghat Techno, Link Pharma and Prime Property Development fell more than 10 per cent.
 
Among the metal stocks, Hindustan Zinc was the largest loser, down by 9 per cent to Rs 596.10 against Friday's close of Rs 654.50. It was followed by Sterlite Industries 8 per cent to Rs 437.25 (Rs 437.25), Madras Aluminum 8 per cent to Rs 365.80 (Rs 396.70) and Hindalco 5 per cent to Rs 200.90 (Rs 212.55).
 
From the frontline A group stocks, HMT was the largest loser fell by 13.7 per cent to Rs 73.75 (Rs 85.50).
 
The price of Bombay Dyeing declined by 8 per cent to Rs 655.45 (Rs 711.85), GNFC 8 per cent to Rs 100.85 (Rs 109.50), Chennai Petroleum 7.4 per cent to Rs 208.60 (Rs 225.30) and TVS Motor 7.3 per cent to RS 108.10 (Rs 116.55).
