Fortis Healthcare jumps as firm gets back in the black

Fortis Healthcare rose 4.09 per cent to close the day at Rs 56.05 after the company announced its second-quarter results for FY09. The company’s total income rose by 27.6 per cent y-o-y to Rs 157.54 during the period under review. 

Fortis reported a net profit of Rs 10.06 crore y-o-y as against a net loss of Rs 15.23 crore in the same period. The company is looking at acquisitions to increase its bed count from the present 2,500 to 3,000. The stock hit an intraday high of Rs 56.05 and a low of Rs 52.

The stock witnessed traded volumes of 163,642 shares vis-a-vis its two-week average of 90,848 shares.
