The shares of Fortis Group companies, such as Fortis Healthcare and Fortis Malar Hospitals, on Wednesday rallied 10 per cent each on the BSE on back of heavy volumes. Fortis Healthcare surged 10 per cent to Rs 159 on back of nearly fivefold jump in trading volumes. The stock opened at Rs 145 and touched a 52-week high of Rs 169. It closed at Rs 155.8, up 8.69 per cent.
The stock has rallied over 35 per cent in the past month, from Rs 116 after investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala bought nearly one percentage point stake in the company via a bulk deal. Meanwhile, shares of Fortis Malar Hospitals was locked in upper circuit of 10 per cent at Rs 58.20 on the BSE.
