Fresh buying propels Sensex

Fresh buying in late noon trades has spurred the gains of the index to an intra-day high of 6,618. The Sensex is now up 83 points at 6,613. The Nifty has advanced 24 points to 2,076.

Reliance has added 1.27% (Rs 7) to Rs 541. While ITC is up Rs 3 at Rs 1,328, HLL is trading on a flat note at Rs 165.

SBI at Rs 656 (up Rs 7 or 1.15%), HDFC Bank at Rs 570 (up Rs 15 or 2.79%) and ICICI Bank at Rs 369 (up Rs 3) are holding on to their gains.

Infosys has moved up 1.52% (Rs 31) to Rs 2,098. Wipro and Satyam are up a per cent each at Rs 692 and Rs 407, respectively.

ONGC has advanced 1.68% (Rs 14) to Rs 833, and HPCL is up 2% (Rs 7) at Rs 368.

ACC has gained 2.16% (Rs 8) to Rs 361. While Grasim has added 1.31% (Rs 17) to Rs 1,349, Gujarat Ambuja is up 1.28% (Rs 6) at Rs 459.

Bajaj has scaled up 1.95% (Rs 20) to Rs 1,057, and Hero Honda is trading steady with a gain of Rs 4 at Rs 534. While Maruti has moved up 2.20% (Rs 10) to Rs 460, Tata Motors is up 1.16% (Rs 6) at Rs 491.

HDFC has logged 2.44% gains (Rs 19) to Rs 790, while L&T has gained 1.83% (Rs 18) to Rs 994. Reliance Energy has jumped 2.41% (Rs 14) to Rs 576, and Tata Power is up 1.12% (Rs 4) at Rs 396.
