The Sensex witnessed high volatility in early trades today. The index swung almost 700-points (High 11,697; Low 11,004) in the first one-hour of the trading this morning. The index has now slumped 238 points to 11,153. Cipla has slumped 5.7% to Rs 231. Ranbaxy has dropped 3.5% to Rs 444. Bajaj Auto and BHEL have shed 4.5% each to Rs 2,876 and Rs 2,020, respectively. SBI has plunged 4% to Rs 872. Satyam and Ranbaxy have tumbled 3.5% each to Rs 691 and Rs 444, respectively. HDFC Bank, Tata Motors, Tata Steel and ICICI Bank are down over 3% each at Rs 790, Rs 844, Rs 528 and Rs 574, respectively. Hindalco is up 1% at Rs 194. Out of 2,434 stocks traded so far, 1,836 have declined, 552 have advanced and 46 are unchanged. |
