The Sensex continues to display firm trend, and is now up 166 points at 9,316. Earlier in the day, the index had opened 77 points higher at 9,226.
Jaiprakash Associates has soared over 5% to Rs 70. Reliance Communications and Tata Steel have surged nearly 5% each to Rs 167 and Rs 179, respectively.
Sterlite has rallied nearly 4% to Rs 278. ONGC and Wipro have moved up nearly 3% each to Rs 669 and Rs 231, respectively.
Reliance Infrastructure and Tata Motors have advanced 2.5% each to Rs 537 and Rs 137, respectively.
TCS and Hindalco have added 2.3% each to Rs 512 and Rs 46, respectively.
Larsen & Toubro, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and Maruti are up over 2% each at Rs 672, Rs 918, Rs 400 and Rs 596, respectively.
The market breadth is positive - out of 2,050 stocks traded so far, 1,135 have advanced, 830 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
