Gains intact: Sensex up 371pts; breadth fairly +ve

The Sensex is now up 371 points at 9,338.

The BSE Metal index has surged over 6% to 5,584, and the Bankex has rallied 5.4% to 4,275.

Ranbaxy has zoomed nearly 9% to Rs 158. Tata Steel and Sterlite have soared 8.5% each to Rs 191 and Rs 342, respectively.

HDFC and Reliance Infrastructure have surged around 6.5% each to Rs 1,505 and Rs 514, respectively.

ICICI Bank and SBI have rallied 6% each to Rs 343 and Rs 1,011, respectively. HDFC Bank has gained 5.5% at Rs 885.

Hindalco has moved up 5.5% to Rs 50. Reliance, Jaiprakash Associates, Bhati Airtel and Reliance Communications have advanced around 5% each to Rs 1,405, Rs 84, Rs 597 and Rs 166, respectively.

 

Tata Power and ONGC have added 4.5% each to Rs 696 and Rs 788, respectively.

Tata Motors and Grasim are up 4% each at Rs 167 and Rs 1,522, respectively.

DLF, however, has plunged nearly 3% to Rs 166.

The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 2,550 stocks traded so far, 1,563 have advanced, 864 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
