Exchange traded funds (ETFs) have lost lust reflected in Tuesday's trades on the stock exchanges. While spot market sale on Tuesday, including booking for futures purchases, has seen increase, gold ETFs sales halved on Tuesday.
Volumes for ETFs traded on both exchanges have fallen by about 48 per cent since last year. On Tuesday, the total volumes of gold ETFs traded on both exchanges stood at Rs34.28 crore, against Rs71.27 crore seen last year. Demand for gold ETFs has been steadily falling for the past two years. In 2013, exchange turnover in gold ETFs on Akshay Tritiya stood at Rs1,306 crore.
