Gold found in 6 districts

Traces of gold reserve have been found in six Orissa districts from preliminary investigations, says Orissa steel and mines minister Pradeep Kumar Amat.
These districts are Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundergarh, Malkangiri, Angul and Boudh.
Meanwhile, eighteen applications for prospecting of gold in Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts are under consideration of the state government.
The most meritorious applicants will be given the prospecting license (PL) as per the prevalent rules.
Besides, the river bed of Mahanadi is expected to have some reserves of gold, Amat added.

The minister said, Saleikana, Dimirimunda, Karadangi and Kalima areas in Telkoi block and Gazipur, Gopur, Singipur and Kushakala aress in Bansamal circle in the Keonjhar district are reported to have gold reserve.
Similarly, Sapagara, Utudihi, Jajuguda, Surada, Jashipur, Suriaguda, Idelguda, Maredihi, Jhabukucha, Ghutudiha, Pataraburu, Balidihi, Siristola hills, Dhusura hills, Badam Pahar-Goru Mahisani and Suleipat areas in Mayurbhanj district may have some gold reserves.
Digjharan, Maladihi and Ghogei area in the Sundergarh district, Kayang, Batiguda, Dashmantapur and Govindpali area in Malkangiri district have also reserves of gold.
The minister said, Samakoi, Tikira river plateau in Angul district and Ram Garh area in Boudh district is expected to have some reserves of gold as per the preliminary information collected by directorate of geology.
