Gold futures decline on reduced offtake

Gold prices declined by Rs 53 or 0.28 per cent to Rs 19,081 per ten gram in futures trade today due to reduced offtake at existing higher levels.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for December-month contract declined by Rs 53, or 0.28 per cent to Rs 19,081 per ten gram, with an open interest of 189 lots.

The metal for delivery in August contract also weakened by Rs 41, or 0.22 per cent to Rs 18,950 per ten gram, with a business turnover of 21,451 lots.

The fresh fall in gold futures was due to reduced offtake at existing higher levels, traders said.
