Gold futures prices fell by Rs 21, or 0.11 per cent, to Rs 18,402 per ten gram today, as traders reduced their positions on the back of weakening global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, gold for October fell by Rs 21, or 0.11 per cent, to Rs 18,402 per ten gram, with an open interest of 4,474 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in August declined by Rs 15, or 0.08 per cent, to Rs 18,324 per ten gram, with an open interest of 15,971 lots.

Market analysts said fresh selling by traders and reports of weakening trend in global markets mainly led to a fall in gold prices at futures trade.

Meanwhile, gold fell by $3.00 to $1,189.20 an ounce in Asian region.
