Gold prices drifted by Rs 59 to Rs 18,305 per ten gram in futures market today, on emergence of selling in tandem with a weakening trend in overseas markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for August month fell by Rs 59 or 0.32 per cent to Rs 18,305 per ten grams, with an open interest of 15,102 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in October month dropped by Rs 57 or 0.31 per cent to Rs 18,380 per ten grams in 5,301 lots.

Trade observers said fresh selling in tandem with a weak global trend pulled down gold prices at futures trade.

Gold fell by $3.40 to $1,182.70 an ounce in Asia.
