Gold futures prices moved down by Rs 31 to Rs 22,149 per 10 grams today as speculators reduced their positions driven by a weakening global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in October moved down by Rs 31, or 0.14%, to Rs 22,149, with a business turnover of 251 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in August lost Rs 22, or 0.10%, to Rs 21,882, with a trade volume of 3,083 lots.

Market analysts said apart from weakening global trend and fall in demand at prevailing higher levels mainly led to decline in gold futures prices.

Meanwhile, gold shed $1.90 to $1,498.40 an ounce in the Asian region.
