Gold futures fall 0.2% on profit-booking

Speculators offloading their positions at prevailing levels affected the trade

Gold futures for February fell by Rs 61, or 0.2% to Rs 30,630 per 10 grams in 3,464 lots.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the April contract fell by Rs 59, or 0.19%, to Rs 31,216 per 10 grams in 1,010 lots.

Speculators offloading their positions at prevailing levels affected the trade.

Weak trend overseas after the International Monetary Fund said global growth will accelerate this year curbed the demand for gold.

In Singapore, gold retreated 0.2% to $1,683.80 an ounce in early trade.
