Gold futures prices recovered by 0.78% to Rs 28,887 per 10 grams today, tracking a firming trend overseas.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in December gained Rs 224, or 0.78%, to Rs 28,887 per 10 grams, with an open interest for 3,867 lots.
Similarly, for delivery in far-month February, it also rose by Rs 210, or 0.72%, to Rs 29,215 per 10 grams in 3,087 lots.
Market analysts attributed the recovery in gold futures to a firming trend in Asian markets.
Meanwhile, spot gold prices recovered by $6.70 to $1,722.10 an ounce in Singapore in early trade today.
