Gold prices gained Rs 60 to Rs 17,090 per ten gram here today on retail buying for the ongoing marriage season, even though the precious metal fell in the international markets.
Standard gold and ornaments rose by Rs 60 each at Rs 17,090 and Rs 16,940 per ten gram, respectively. Sovereign, on the other hand, lost Rs 50 to Rs 14,050 per eight-gram piece.
However, silver declined on a fall in demand among industrial units at existing higher levels.
Silver ready fell by Rs 50 to Rs 28,600 per kg and weekly-based delivery by Rs 60 to Rs 28,250 per kg.
The metal had lost Rs 50 in the previous session.
Silver coins remained at the previous levels of Rs 33,700 for buying and Rs 33,800 for selling of 100 pieces.
