Gold rises by Rs 170 on global cues

Gold prices on Friday surged by Rs 170 to Rs 14,795 per 10 gm in the bullion market on emergence of buying by stockists and jewellery fabricators amid firming global trend. Silver also recorded significant rise of Rs 810 to Rs 22,950 a kg.

Marketmen said buying activity picked up as metal prices rose by $3.25 to $913.95 an ounce in London and silver moved up by 0.4 per cent to $13.91 an ounce.
