Stocks of HDFC Bank witnessed hectic activity on Wednesday after the bank reported a 29 per cent rise in net profit for the quarter ended March 2003.
The stock jumped 1.18 per cent to Rs 243.75, off from the intra-day high of Rs 245.85. Around 13, 234 shares of the bank changed hands on the BSE, while 4.28 lakh shares were traded on the NSE. Most analysts believe the company should continue its good run in the near future as well.
But they caution that while topline could register growth, profit growth could remain somewhat listless. HDFC Bank announced a fourth quarter net profit of Rs 116.62 crore, as against Rs 90.24 crore in the same period the previous year.
