The high-level committee to select a new chairman for the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) was likely to meet on December 21, a senior government official said on Wednesday. The committee, headed by Cabinet Secretary K M Chandrasekhar, was likely to interview the short-listed candidates on December 21, the official added. Chandrasekhar said the new Sebi chairman would be selected in a few days after media reports said the committee was considering a two-year extension for incumbent C B Bhave.
