Groundnut oil prices firmed up at the oils and oilseeds market here today due to fresh offtake from stockists and retailers. On the other hand, refined palmolein edged lower owing to poor domestic demand.

In non-edible segment, castorseeds bold, castor oil commercial and linseed oil closed stable in the absence of any demand. Castorseed futures moved up on fresh export enquiries.

In the edible oil section, groundnut oil gained by Rs 5 per 10 kg to Rs 970 from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 965, while refined palmolein softened by Rs 2 per 10 kg to Rs 554 as against Rs 556.

Turning to futures trade, castorseeds for September delivery resumed higher at Rs 5,190 and improved further to close at Rs 5,195 over its weekend close of Rs 5,180, showing a modest rise of Rs 15 per tonne.

However, castorseeds bold, castor oil commercial and linseed oil closed unaltered at Rs 5,200, Rs 1,070 and Rs 710, respectively.
