Gur closes lower on increase supply

Gur prices declined by Rs 50 per quintal in the wholesale jaggery market here today owing to slackness in demand against increased supply.

Muzzafarnagar and Muradnagar gur market also ended lower in the absence of buying support, recording losses up to Rs 100 per quintal.

Market analysts said heavy supply against fall in offtake mainly brought down the gur prices.

In Delhi, gur chakku prices dipped by Rs 50 to settle at Rs 2,400-2,450 per quintal, gur pedi also slipped by Rs 50 to Rs 2,550-2,600 per quintal.

At Muradnagar, gur pedi and dhayya prices tumbled by Rs 100 each to close at Rs 2,250-2,350 and Rs 2,300-2,350 per quintal, respectively.

Turning to Muzzafarnagar, gur raskat fell by Rs 50 to Rs 1,850-1,925 per quintal on reduced offtake by alcohol making industries.

While Khurpa prices dropped by Rs 100 to Rs 2,150-2,200 per quintal.

Chakku Rs 2,400-2,450, pedi 2,550-2,600, Dhayya Rs 2,600-2,650 and Shakkar Rs 2,700-2,800
In Muzaffarnagar: Raskat Rs 1,850-1,925, chakku Rs 2,300-2,400 and Khurpa Rs 2,150-2,200
In Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,250-2,300 and Dhaya Rs 2,300-2,350
