Gur falls on increased supply, weak demand

Gur prices fell up to Rs 150 per quintal in the jaggery market today, on slackness in demand against increased arrivals.

Marketmen said increased arrivals in the face of reduced offtake by stockists and local parties pulled down wholesale gur prices.

In Delhi, gur pedi fell by Rs 150 to Rs 2,350-2,400, while chakku and dhayya were down by Rs 100 each to Rs 2,300-2,350 and Rs 2,500-2,550 per quintal, respectively.

In Muzzafarnagar, gur raskat and chakku quoted lower at Rs 1,825-1,900 and Rs 2,050-2,250 against last close of Rs 1,850-1,900 and Rs 2,075-2,250 per quintal, respectively.

Gur pedi and dhayya in Muradnagar, also traded lower by Rs 100 each to Rs 2,200-2,250 each per quintal.
