Gur strengthens on sustained buying

Gur prices rose further up to Rs 50 per quintal in the national capital today on sustained buying by stockists and local parties against less arrivals.

Marketmen said fall in arrivals because of less availability of sugarcane in manufacturing units due to adverse weather conditions, mainly pushed up wholesale gur prices.

At Delhi, gur pedi, dhayya and shakkar remained in local demand and added Rs 50 each to Rs 2,350-2,450, Rs 2,450-2,500 and Rs 2,550-2,600 per quintal.

At Muradnagar, gur chakku and khurpa moved up by Rs 25 each to Rs 2,150-2,325 and Rs 2,075-2,175 per quintal.

In Muzzafarnagar, gur pedi and dhayya were also traded higher by Rs 25 each to Rs 2,150-2,200 and Rs 2,200-2,225 per quintal.

Chakku Rs 2,350-2,400, pedi 2,350-2,450 Dhayya Rs 2,450-2,500 and Shakkar Rs 2,550-2,600
In Muzaffarnagar: Raskat Rs 1,725-1,800 chakku Rs 2,150-2,325 and Khurpa Rs 2,125-2,175
In Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,150-2,200 and Dhaya Rs 2,200-2,225
