The Allahabad High Court today reserved its judgement on the contentious issue of sugarcane price in Uttar Pradesh. A Division Bench comprising Justices Arun Tandon and Dilip Gupta said the order will be passed on December 1.
On November 4, the Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA) had challenged the recent record hike in State Advised Price (SAP), by terming it as arbitrary and finding fault in the method to arrive at the cane rate.
Announced on October 18, SAP this year has witnessed a record hike of Rs 15 per quintal over last year. On November 21, ISMA had agreed to pay cane price at the rate of Rs 125 per quintal to farmers.
The day-to-day hearing in the case was on since November 18 and concluded today.
