HCL Infosystems has soared 17% to Rs 50.20 on reports of winning contract worth of Rs 2,200 crore from the Unique Identification Authority of India’s (UIDAI). The information technology company has emerged as the lowest contactor in the bidding process.
The project involves the issuing of 600 million UID numbers by 2014 along with updating resident information, and authenticating the identity of residents.
As many as 4.61 million shares have already changed hands on the counter on morning deals, against an average sub two million shares that were traded daily in past two weeks on the NSE and BSE.
