The bourses opened on a bearish note owing to the weak undercurrents in the US. The indices, however, proceeded to trade higher through the late part of session.
The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) sensex ended the day at 3289.68 (up 20.37 points) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty 50 ended the day at 1063.70 (up 05.05).
The breadth was negative as the combined figures on both exchanges was 996: 1253. The traded volume on the BSE was Rs 1,475 crore, while on the NSE it was Rs 3,038 crore.
