Hindalco Gdr Shines

The Instanex Skindia DR Index (ISDI) was down by 2.27 per cent to 708.31 at 5:00 PM IST even as the Sensex ended 2.60 per cent lower at 4,193.8.

Hindalco was the only gainer among 7 ISDI global depository receipts, gaining 1.84 per cent to $19.35 on volumes of only 6,000 GDRs.

The major losers were Ranbaxy that plunged 5.87 per cent to $22.45, registering volumes of 3,560 GDRs, followed by Reliance down 3.66 per cent to $18.40 with volumes of 3,53,265 GDRs and L&T down 3.42 per cent to $12.70 on volumes of 20,410 GDRs.

On September 12, 2003, all ISDI American Depository Receipts lost ground. Information technology and telecom stocks led the decline with Wipro down 3.52 per cent to $29.35 registering volumes of 128,500 ADRs, followed by MTNL, down 3.04 per cent to $5.43 on volumes of 30,000 ADRs and Satyam Computers down 2.66 per cent to $12.45 on volumes of 247,700 ADRs.

 

On Friday, the ISDI fell 2.01 per cent to close at 717.91 While the ISDI price-earning ratio also shed 1.80 per cent to 14.30 from 14.56.

Infy, the Infosys Tech ADR, fell $1.26 to $65.40. Another major loser was the Dr Reddys Labs ADR, which shed 35 cents to $25.27.
