ICICI Bank leads Sensex recovery

The Sensex, which lost ground in early noon trades to touch a low of 6,750, has steadily recovered from its slump. Buying, particularly, in select banking and heavweights has seen the Sensex now clock 31 points gains to 6,783 in current trades. The Nifty is up five points at 2,134.

Reliance is up a per cent (Rs 4) at Rs 575, while ONGC is trading with steady gains at Rs 915 - up Rs 3. ITC and HLL are still marginally up at Rs 1,341 and Rs 136, respectively.

ICICI Bank has soared 5.11% (Rs 20) to Rs 402. HDFC Bank (up Rs 5 to Rs 598) and SBI (up Rs 3 to Rs 734) are trading with steady gains.

Dr. Reddy's and Cipla are up a per cent each at Rs 760 and Rs 286, respectively. Ranbaxy, however, is down Rs 2 at Rs 1,066.

Infosys is trading lower by Rs 5 at Rs 2,200, after early gains. While Satyam is down a per cent (Rs 4) at Rs 405, Wipro is up a tad at Rs 683.

Hindalco is up a per cent (Rs 14) at Rs 1,450. Bharti is still exhibiting weakness with a loss of 2.70% (Rs 6) at Rs 211.
