As the markets turned volatile, we saw increased activity from our fund managers too. While Ajay Parmar remained on the sidelines, others cumulatively executed 62 trades in the first four days of this week. The money managers were net buyers of stocks worth Rs 4.28 lakh. An investment of Rs 10 lakh in the Smart Portfolio benchmark, S&P CNX 500 index, at the start of the season on September 1, 2009, is today valued at Rs 11.34 lakh, up 13.5 per cent.
