Enron Corp has decided to shut down its operations in India by handing out pink slips to over 200 employees of Dabhol Power Company, Enron Indian Power and Offshore Power Operations Bv.

Dr Morepen, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Morepen Laboratories, has reached an agreement to acquire the over-the-counter antiseptic burns cream Burnol for Rs 8.95 crore from Reckitt Piramal.

In a recent circular to all banks, the RBI has made it mandatory for them to disclose in their balance sheets the movement of provisions held towards non-performing assets and towards depreciation on investments.

The domestic promoters of Himachal Futuristic Communications are increasing their stake in the company to 26 per cent from the current level of 18 per cent. The HFCL board has cleared the preferential issue of one crore warrants convertible into equity shares to promoters, directors and their relatives at a price of Rs 92.

 

Cement dispatches rose 7.4 per cent to 8.3 mt in November '01 as compared to 7.7 mt in November '00. Production, at 8.3 mt, was higher by 7.5 per cent. Cement dispatches during April-November '01 rose to 66 mt, as against 62.4 mt last year, while industry output increased from 62.6 mt to 66.1 mt.

According to research agency ORG-GFK, Onida has been the given the number-two slot in the colour television market for October 2001. Consequently, Videocon, which held the slot for several years, has been relegated to the third position. BPL, with a market share of 16.7 per cent, continues to occupy the number one position.

Over one-and-a-half years after its board approved the move to allow public issues to be completed entirely through the book-building route, the SEBI has finally operationalised the route by notifying the guidelines, last week.
