India, Chile Sign Pact To Curb Spread Of Pests, Weeds

India and Chile today signed an agreement for preventing introduction and spread of pests, weeds and diseases of plants and plant products in the two countries. This will help standardise quarantine norms to facilitate bilateral trade in agricultural commodities.

The accord was signed by agriculture minister Ajit Singh and his visiting Chile counterpart Jaime Campos after a meeting between the teams of the two countries.

Ajit Singh later said India which had advanced facilities for agricultural research was willing to cooperate with Chile in this field.
