Indian crude oil basket up at $115.87

The Indian crude oil basket rose $1.56 a barrel to $115.87 (about Rs 5,050) on Friday.

The rise follows a sharp increase in global crude oil prices on worries over likely supply disruptions due to the ongoing tension between the US and Russia.

On Thursday, the benchmark October crude future on the New York Mercantile Exchange had increased nearly $6 to $121.18 a barrel.

On Friday, Dubai crude oil price increased $4.48 per barrel to $116.68, while Oman crude price rose $4.20 a barrel to $116.85.

However, Brent crude oil price was down $3.04 a barrel to $114.39, after a $6 rise on the previous day.

 

The Indian basket, had hit a four-month low of $107.93 per barrel on August 15, but has been rising since then.

The basket has averaged $113.50 a barrel so far this month, down 14.3 per cent from the July average of $132.47.
