Indian Wheat Exports To Buck Global Trend

While the global trade in wheat is expected to decline marginally in 2002-03, Indian exports are likely to defy the trend. The number of countries importing the Indian wheat has already touched 20. New markets are not being ruled out this year.

India has already exported over 7 million tonnes of wheat since the government started supplying grain to exporters from the Food Corporation of India (FCI) stocks at concessional prices over a year ago. This has bracketed India among the world
