Industry Misses A Stitch As Free Trade Nears

Textile exporters are precariously placed with just 2 years to go for the total lifting of textile export quotas. The situation looks tricky for exporters as there is great uncertainty on what lies in store for them in the quota-free world textile trade.

The Cotton Textile Export Promotion Council (Texprocil), the apex export promotion body, is set to grapple with issues to make Indian textile industry globally competitive. The association aims to achieve higher market share in world trade through cost-competitiveness and this can be achieved only through a multi-pronged approach.
