Infosys, Wipro gain 5%; ICICI Bank slips 3%

The Sensex is now up 52 points at 9,162. The index after opening 68 points lower at 9,042, touched a low of 9,035, before rebounding into the positive zone. The index thereafter rallied to a high of 9,261 - up 226 points from the day's low - and since then has pared gains.

Infosys has surged 5.7% to Rs 1,223, and Wipro has soared over 5% to Rs 239.

Ranbaxy and Tata Power have rallied over 4% each to Rs 216 and Rs 758, respectively.

ITC has moved up nearly 4% to Rs 171. TCS has added 3.3% to Rs 529.

 

Reliance Infrastructure and ACC are up over 2% each at Rs 491 and Rs 506, respectively.

Bharti Airtel and Tata Motors have plunged over 3% each to Rs 604 and Rs 157, respectively.

ICICI Bank has shed 2.5% at Rs 427. Grasim has dropped over 2% to Rs 1,330.

Tata Steel and Hindustan Unilever have moved up nearly 2% each to Rs 197 and Rs 258, respectively.

The market breadth is marginally negative - out of 2,213 stocks traded so far, 1,077 have declined, 1,053 have advanced and 83 are unchanged.
