Infy Shadow Looms Large

Selling in technology stocks by foreign funds and speculators a day before the announcement of quarterly results by Infosys Technologies pushed the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) sensex lower today.

The sensex touched an intraday high of 2992.91, and an intraday low of 2,953.19, before closing 16.45 points lower at 2,956.89 points. Brokers said pre-results anxiety encouraged some investors to exit technology stocks.

Meanwhile, on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the S&P CNX Nifty index settled 6.05 points lower at 954.75.

Infosys Technologies settled two per cent lower at Rs 3,475, following institutional selling ahead of its quarterly results.
