The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) sensex consolidated gains for the third straight day on Monday, following institutional buying in technology and select blue-chip stocks.
However, selling pressure in defensive pharma and state-owned refinery stocks capped gains. After trading in an narrow range of 20 points, the sensex settled with a marginal gain of 7.62 points at 3,003.39.
Meanwhile, on the National Stock Exchange, the S&P CNX Nifty index rose by 1.40 points to 972.45. Overall, losers outnumbered gainers in light trades.
